Aloha from Maui

I've had my first night at the Hostel here in Wailuku. This is a nice Hostel with nice people working and staying here. I'm staying in a private single bed room, and shares a kitchen and bathrooms with the rest of the guests here.
The first day here on Maui consisted of renting a car for my whole stay (A Dodge Caliber), buying summer clothing and footwear and buying cereals and milk for my breakfast the next days. After I got my car I went for a drive. I ended up at Ho'okipa beach which is the most photographed windsurfing spot in the world. Also today there were lots of photographers on the beach, and even a helicopter swirling over the windsurfers shooting photos and/or video.

I've found out that there are lots of exciting offers for activities here, so I'm quite sure I won't be bored, but more likely broke before I get back to Norway.

It's a small world: I met two german girls here at the hostel that stayed the Hostel I stayed at in Fernie, but left Fernie about3 weeks ago...

Next stop Hawaii - Surf's up

I've booked tickets to Maui today. The spring is all over BC now, so I decided to go for summer instead. I'm leaving on Wednesday March 25th from Calgary and returning 20th of April. Then I have 2 nights in Calgary before returning to Norway April 22. I hope to get to learn surfing during my 3,5 weeks in Maui. I'll be back with more when I get there :)

Hiking 2000 Ridge

I bought me skins for my skis on Thursday, so Friday 13th was the day for testing them. Anna-Karin, Johan and Amund brought their touring equipment as well, while Andreas and Cornelia without touring bindings and skins tried hiking by foot.

Here's my skis with skins on and touring bindings ready for action:

The first 10-20 meters I struggled to hold my balance, but when I got the rhythm and balance I climbed like mountain goat.
It was quite windy, so we didn't climb all the way to the top, but stopped after about 1,5 hour.

Unfortunately the snow wasn't very good this day. The wind had created a layer of hard snow, but there were patches of niceness...

And the video:

Kickersession in Lost Boys Pass

On Thursday March 12th we had a kickersession in Lost Boys Pass. We have to hike outside of the resort boundaries because its not allowed to build jumps inside the resorts system. We built two jumps with good soft snow for landing and a good curve. I did some solid 360's and was quite satisfied. Next time I'll have to do a grab too.

And of course a video that is also available in HD quality. I've learned a bit more about how to create HD videos now ;)

Catskiing March 9th

On Sunday Josefin knocked on my door and told me that the swedes at Elk were going catskiing the next day and that there was some seats left, so I joined them :) So there was 8 swedes and me.

The weather that day was quite cold and overcast, but I was only freezing on my toes the first hour. There was one window missing in the cat, so that made it even a bit colder We got 8 good runs, although the terrain was not as steep as I would've preferred, but it was a good day anyway. We had a photographer with us the first 3 runs, and she took some good pictures of us:
